I was recently looking around for an easy way to open FB2 eBooks on one of my Kindle. I’ve tried some FB2 to Mobipocket converter in the past and it failed miserably so I gave up on the idea for a while. Recently I gave it another try. This time around I’ve tried to convert FB2 files to PDF. I’ve stumbled upon a marvelous web-service – http://fb2pdf.com/ – it does what it’s name implies. You upload FB2 file and download PDF. The service can even save you a roundtrip and download FB2 files directly from websites like http://lib.rus.ec/. When converting you can specify target device: Kindle 2, DX, Sony, etc so the resulting PDF is optimized for a particular screen size. I couldn’t me happier!
Learn how to open PDF file.
use calibre. it is better
Personally I strongly prefer software that I don’t need to install, so the website works better for me.
Hmm don’t throw away Caliber proposal so easy. PDF format is nice but also a lot limited then any eBook format cause:
– you could not use dictionary on PDF
– you could not make clippings and notes
– you could not change the size of the text
– … and so on
Caliber is a free program and converts FB2 to an eBook format that is supported by Kindle 2 (.mobi). It’s definitely a lot better than PDF.
I believe that I tried caliber in the past and it crashed on Russian eBook. Could have been an issue with that particular ebook. I haven’t tried it since.
Calibre is an amazing piece of software, it allows you to manage your kindle really well (also, the newsfeed fetcher is a lifesaver)
I have the newest Kindle Dx AND I’M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW YOU USE CALIBRE WITH IT … IT WAS A NO BRAINER WITH THE SONY E-READER
I’m a 74 yr old woman and let me tell you this stuff is stretching me!
BY THE WAY I DO HAVE CALIBRE DOWNLOADED ON MY COMPUTER, I HAVE THE USB CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER FROM THE KINDLE … WHAT NOW??? OH YES I DO HAVE BOOKS ON THE KINDLE…
I myself have used calibre for my own book conversion the conversion remains delicate and needs more formatting I got my book consulted from http://www.ebookconversion.com/
