Since there is very little solid information about any of the upcoming Active Content for Kindle, I’ve taken the liberty to speculate about the following apps that are likely to appear:
- Kindle Chess
- Kindle Checkers
- Kindle Sudoku
- Kindle Email Client
- Kindle RSS Reader
- Kindle Folders
- Kindle Calendar
You are welcome to agree or disagree with these predictions and comment on that.
I looked at the KDK api and it doesn’t seem to provide facility for developers to access content related functionalities. you can draw things on screen and do all those games that you mentioned, and since you can access the internet thru the 3G connection, i supposed there will be lots of social active contents coming out too
Tasteless as I find the idea, I know that there will be some iteration of Kindle Facebook and Kindle Twitter.
I’d like (and suggested in my KDK application) an interactive fiction parser, so people can play the classic Infocom games of the 80s, or new games like Violet.
You can play Violet in a Flash-based web parser at http://jayisgames.com/games/ifiction/game/violet
Click on the graphical splash screen to get to the text game, then when the text “Calm down. All you have to do is write a thousand words and everything will be fine. And you have all day, except it’s already noon.” press any key to really start the game.
I may be in the minority, but I have no interest in anything save reading on my Kindle. To this end, I need three things.
1) Metadata amplification. I need to be able to anchor additional metadata to a specific book that will store in the cloud with my annotations/notes/etc. This must be robust enough to handle the complexity of shall we say, Star Trek books, where there is Star Trek, the series; ST:TOS, ST:TNG, ST:VOY, ST:DS9 as sub-series; and a sub-sub-series for a story which follows through several volumes in each sub-series. I need easy to find series numbering, as most authors are not as series catalog friendly as Sue Grafton.
2) External catalog app to allow me to easily sort and maintain a listing of all my Kindle content, as well as third-party content I supply myself (e.g., books from Baen)
3) Wishlist app where I can add authors or specific titles I would like to get when/if they become available, and get notification when they become available.
I am not even going to add folders to the list as everyone who has ever touched a Kindle has remarked on this need.
How can I get these apps into my Kindle ?
